Science Week!

Baking is all about science so this week 4CC watched as Mrs Walker demonstrated how to make honeycomb. This is not to be tried without an adult, as it involves boiling sugar! However it’s fun to watch, and have a taste, when it has cooled down.

Caramalise the sugar and golden syrup then whisk in the bicarbonate of soda. Watch it fizz!

A most enjoyable morning with Miss Wright as our head chef. She (with the help of many sous chefs) demonstrated a delicious vegetarian shepherds pie. It was tasted by everyone in the cafe and the remainder went into the staff room, where it didn’t last very long! Thank you Miss Wright for being a great sport!

This week Mrs Clarks’ sister, visiting from Greece, showed the group Greek dips, Greek salad and pitta bread. It was delicious, health and easy when you are shown how. She even managed to arrange a little bit of sunshine! Thanks Mel, I hope you can be persuaded to do some more Greek cooking next time you visit!
